TIKAL |
||
One of my favorite locations in Guatemala definitely is Tikal. A trip here wouldn't be complete with out it. This is the sunrise from Temple 4 in Tikal. As you sit and absorb the beauty of the new day, the forest comes alive below you. Birds take flight across the forest canopy and the echoes of animals are heard for miles. |

This is the same view from Temple 4, the largest of the Mayan Temples in Tikal. This is the same shot used in Star Wars. The picture is small but you can see 3 other temples above the tree line. | |||
This picture is of Temple 1. The size of this temple is mammoth. The base platform of the temple was used for sacrifices. |

This is me walking up the side of Temple 1. The stair case is only about 1 and a half feet wide. Yes it was a little hairy and no there are no handrails. (I know Beth and John remember trying to come down that one) |

This temple is The Observatory in El Mundo Perdido "The Lost World". It is just higher than the tree line and flat on the top (a little bigger than 2 handball courts). The group shot from left to right Miguel, Greg, Brenda and Beth. This is one of my favorite photos. For those who are from Guatemala - can you find the "Gallo" |

This is me standing next to a huge tree with a beautiful root and support system. Its name is a ceiba (thanks Pat) |
