5th Ultimate Adventure: BVI

Day Nine - August 6, 2012

Departing: Anegada
Day Stop: none
Night Stop: Marina Cay, Tortola

With the end of the trip quickly approaching, this will be our longest sail of the trip, 18 miles. No day stop is planned, although it is possible to stop at The Dogs, a rocky group of islands that we have stopped at each of the previous four trips. Marina Cay itself has a reef extending around its southern side, and will most likey be our swimming target for the day.

Day Stop: Probably none.

Our longest sail at 18 miles, it is unlikely we will stop.

Overnight Stop: Marina Cay, Tortola.

Unlike the other Virgin Islands, Anegada is a coral atoll approximately 15 miles north of Virgin Gorda, BVI. Horseshoe Reef stretches for 18 miles, is the largest barrier reef in the Caribbean and the fourth largest barrier reef on Earth. Ashore, the interior of Anegada is home to saltwater ponds that are home to Caribbean Flamingo. We will eating out during our two nights here, as the seafood is caught fresh, local and excellent.

Spending the night on the boat, moored at Anegada.
